Microsoft is on the verge of acquiring Activision Blizzard, and if the deal goes through, they would effectively own everything the publisher holds. And they would bring those titles to Xbox Game Pass, including Call of Duty.
And this is what scares most of the gaming industry and regulators in several nations; they are worried this deal would give Microsoft an unfair advantage over its competition. Sony, which is in direct competition with Microsoft, is among the parties that do not want this deal to go through.

Microsoft has no plans to make Call of Duty Exclusive to the Xbox
Call of Duty is one of the biggest franchises in the gaming industry, and no matter the quality of the games, they always end up breaking sales records. Aside from earning direct revenue from sales, Activision and its developers have also found a way to earn revenue through the multiplayer mode.Microtransactions in these games are a big thing, and they earn both Activision and platform holders such as Sony and Microsoft a lot of revenue. And this revenue is why Sony wants Call of Duty to stay multiplatform.
They do not want to lose the revenue they earn through Call of Duty sales and sales of in-game content. Previously, Sony even made it clear that it relied on the money it earned from games like Call of Duty to fund its own first-party games.
And let us not forget Sony’s first-party games are nothing to scoff about; they are always exceptionally high in quality.
In a recent survey, Microsoft even told Axios that making COD exclusive to its Xbox platform would not suffice. They claimed that there are chances that only 3% of Sony’s consumer base would shift to Xbox. This shift is not enough, and Microsoft thinks it would be more profitable for them to keep it on PlayStation.

They revealed all this information in a recent survey.
But the CMA says otherwise
The CMA’s own survey says that this number is actually 15%. That many players play Call of Duty daily on PlayStation for at least 10 hours. These gamers have a high chance of migrating to Xbox in the event that COD is removed from Sony’s platform.
