Sony has revealed the details about the graphical options available for the upcoming God of War: Ragnarok on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The game will use the full potential of both systems to give the best experience to the players.  

God of War Ragnarok is the direct sequel of the critically acclaimed and massively successful God of War 2018 by Santa Monica Studio and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment.

The previous game had set some huge expectations for the sequel as the fans are hyping the game more and more every single day. Sony is pulling no punches for the pre-release marketing of the game. 

From engaging with Hollywood stars and NBA players to making attractive and jaw-dropping trailers, the PlayStation parent is also hyping the game to a new level. Now they have dropped the detailed information about the graphical options of the game. 

What are the graphical settings available for the God of War Ragnarok? 

So far Sony has revealed that there will be 12 graphical modes across PS4 and PS5. The modes are named, “Favour Resolution,” “Favour Performance,” and “Favour Quality,” with HFR (High Frame Rate) and VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) for the PS5. As the frame rate will be locked to 30fps for the PS4.

The main options on PS5 are Favour Performance (a variable resolution with a 60FPS target) or Favour Quality (a native 2160p 4K resolution with a 30FPS target). These can be modified by implementing HFR Mode to offer a locked 1440p at an unlocked 60FPS, or a variable resolution with a 40FPS target. Using VRR as well as HFR lets you modify this further.

What did the Devs say about the game? 

Sony Santa Monica animation director Bruno Velazquez, spoke with Eurogamer’s Chris Tapsell last week. They discussed how God of War Ragnarok had been designed to be the “best PS4 game” they can make with any extras from the PS5 version “just icing on the cake.”

God of War is scheduled to be released worldwide on November 9, 2022, for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. It is a first party-exclusive game on Sony’s gaming consoles.
