After months of rumors and speculations, Sony Interactive Entertainment finally announced the much-anticipated acquisition of Bluepoint Games, but the company doesn’t plan to stop there. According to Herman Hulst (PlayStation studio head), Sony remains open to ideas related to acquiring new studios and establishments.

The company has always been very open to more possibilities, to expand its gaming title portfolio. PlayStation has 16 internal teams right now.

Hulst said, “We are open always to building new relationships or bringing people in the house, but only if we adhere to the quality-first mentality and the right kind of innovative content, new experiences, diverse experiences.” He also highlighted the point that all these studios differ greatly from each other and that is what he likes the most about all these acquisitions.

PlayStation is planning more acquisitions in future

The way we look at our group of studios is the way we look at our games. It needs to be right, it needs to fit what we are about in qualitative terms. The team needs to be quality-oriented. We’re not buying teams to just be bigger,” he added.

Hulst also explained all the current delays and how the company is not fussed about it at all. He said that the team is quite happy with the development processes. Bluepoint Games is known mainly for its remakes and remastered bestseller titles such as Uncharted, Metal Gear Games, and the most recent one, Demon Soul for PlayStation 5. It was established way back in 2006 and has been responsible for some of the most loved and popular PlayStation titles. Both the studios have worked closely with each other for years.
