2023 is the year of PlayStation. From exclusive games launch to new accessibility controllers, PlayStation is very much the current talk of the town. However, they recently caught a lot of spotlight due to Microsoft‘s $69 billion deal to take over Activision Blizzard. Activision brought PlayStation’s superhit Call of Duty to the fans. Now with Activision’s takeover, PlayStation initially feared to face a huge loss in the market. 

However, breaking all the rumors, PlayStation has announced it has become one of the most successful console makers with astonishing sales statistics worldwide. PlayStation’s revenue report definitely hinted at the team’s intense hard work to stay in competition with Xbox. 

PlayStation 5 ruled the console market this year

The PlayStation-Xbox rivalry is quite popular in the gaming industry. Microsoft’s decision to acquire Activision Blizzard did make Sony scared. But the team couldn’t let their fear run down their progress. They announced a brand-new accessibility controller for making a diverse gaming experience for even disabled players. Now following this, PlayStation announced that they have globally sold over forty million copies of PlayStation 5 since its launch in November of 2020.

This year PlayStation 5 had some major exclusive games like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and Final Fantasy XVI. Final Fantasy XVI received huge praise from fans after its release in June, whereas people are still excited about Spider-Man 2’s release. With the new games, Sony also promised to increase the global supply of PlayStation 5.

Now the company saw a 116% hike in sales in their European market as well. In a nutshell, PlayStation really outperformed itself this time. In January, PlayStation declared about selling thirty million copies of PlayStation 5 consoles. Now this console-making giant is all set to bring their Spider-Man 2-themed exclusive console with the game in October.  

Sony is back at the game 

Sony launched their PlayStation 5 in 2020 after a year of announcing it to the public. However, the pandemic really impacted their supply chain, and the console couldn’t make its global mark for two years consecutively. PlayStation’s head Jim Ryan spoke about their plans to stabilize the supply chain and meet demands- “We continued to face headwinds with the pandemic, and it took months for supply chains to normalize so we could have the inventory to keep up with demand. “

However, Ryan’s statement expressed PlayStation’s deepest gratitude to fans to keep patience and faith in the team’s hard work. He also declared about 2500 additional games on the PlayStation 5’s library. Overall, fans can totally see the team’s integrity in the users.
