Popular console juggernaut PlayStation announced its plans of collaboration with the massive VoIP app Discord. In May 2021, these two parties announced integration plans. However, they did not provide any further details. A recent accidental reveal seems to indicate that the integration could go live sooner than expected.

Discord integration with PlayStation might hit soon

A Reddit user spotted something peculiar while navigating their Discord. The ‘Connections’ tab in the app allows players to link their social media accounts with the app. Facebook, Steam, and others are some of those which can be connected. However, the user was now able to see an option for PlayStation Network as well. The user proceeded to post on the app’s Subreddit but the post has since then been removed by moderators.

Apparently, the user did not access this feature normally. They took to force enabling the new feature hidden in Discord’s latest update. It is not recommended to replicate this, as it violates Discord’s terms of service. This information, however, bodes extremely well for the PlayStation community. Up until now, apart from Party Chats, there is little scope for socialization. Xbox has some form of Discord integration, however, it exists in an extremely limited manner.

Apart from seeing who all is online, the app does not offer much on Xbox. For now, it is unclear up to what extent this integration will go ahead with PlayStation. Whether voice chats, bots, and other such features will be enabled. Regardless, this bodes extremely well for PlayStation fans. Especially considering that collaboration with Apple Music was done as well.
