The transition for a gamer from a PlayStation 4 to the PlayStation 5
The PS4 launched in 2013 and the fans are finally getting a new PlayStation after 7 years. Certainly, the gaming community has several doubts regarding this transition from current-gen to next-gen gaming.
Backwards compatibility
Backwards compatibility refers to a console’s ability to run previous-gen games on it. For a layperson, it might seem obvious that a next-gen console should run a previous-gen game, but achieving backwards compatibility on a console is a hard process.

However, the developers at PlayStation have done a brilliant job to ensure backwards compatibility. So much so, over 99% of PS4 games will be playable on the PS5 from day one. Also, the PS5 offers faster loading times, better FPS, and 4k resolution. As a result, fans can enjoy their favorite PS4 titles like God of War on the PS5.

Data transfer
The PS4 fans have played countless games over the 7 years of the console’s release. Certainly, they would want to transfer their favorites on the Ps5 and play them on day one. There are several ways to do so, including LAN cables, WiFi, or sync through cloud storage.
However, the sync through cloud storage feature is only available for the PS5 plus members.

Players can simply run a PS4 disc on the PS5 to play a previous-gen game. For the digital PS4 games, they just have to download the game on the PS5 and it’s done.
The PlayStation 4 controller works on the PS5
Every gaming console has its own set of accessories that enhance the user’s experience. For the PlayStation consoles, these include the controller and headsets. The PS4 had a DualShock 4 controller and the upcoming PS5 has a brand new DualSense controller.
Interestingly, the DualShock 4 is compatible with the PS5, but only for the PS4 games. To play the next-gen PS5 games, fans will have to buy the PS5 exclusive DualSense controller. Also, it is safe to assume that the DualSense will work on PC.
