It has almost been a year since Sony launched PlayStation 5. Getting your hands on the next-gen console has been near impossible. With limited stock and unscheduled drops throughout the year, could this month offer players the opportunity to get their hands on some brand new consoles?

Target and GameStop have always been the frontrunners for PS5 restock for the month of September. Earlier this week, insiders suggested Target will be the place to be if you are looking to cop a PS5 for yourself, which seems to be true.

Even though the most anticipated drops were from Best Buy, Target and GameStop haven’t been too far either. Surprisingly, the two have seen more restocks and rollouts than people expected.

If social media accounts dedicated to console restock are to be believed, Target stores all over the US have received 10-20 consoles over the usual amount. Both Target and GameStop usually have midweek drops on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. While the latter restocks usually from  10:00 am to 02:00 pm.

Unlike the month of August, Best Buy will not be your “best” option for getting a PS5. Even though they don’t lead the race, there is always a chance of a drop. Best Buy along with Amazon do not prefer Tuesday rollouts, but it’s the beginning of the month and people have high expectations from the big box retailers. As for Walmart, much like the last month, their chances remain quite low.

What you can do to turn the odds in your favor

Even though you cannot do much about the restock and rollouts, these little things can increase your chances even if it’s by a small fraction.

Opting for bundles over standalone consoles. The standalone consoles go out quicker than you can click the button on your mouse. But the bundles that come along with a PS5 headset or PS5 games stay for a little while longer. And if you are someone who is willing to shell out a little more cash, subscribing to GameStop‘s annual subscription will definitely help you out.

The PlayStation 5 disc model is for $499 and the digital edition costs $399 in the US. Be sure to check out the online stores and always keep your payment options ready to go. You don’t want to lose out on the PS5 and lose out on all the exclusive titles launching this year.
