In case anyone missed keeping track of events, the PlayStation 4 had received a much superior upgrade of itself in PS4 Pro. The latter was unveiled three years after the device’s release. And now, the PS5 may also receive a similar treatment soon, going by recent hints dropped by Sony.
Is the PlayStation 5 Pro coming in 2023?
As noted by Insider Gaming website (known for sharing reliable gaming updates), media outlet Famitsu recently interacted with Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Senior Vice President Hideaki Nishino. He talked about a lot of things planned for the upcoming PSVR 2 while also expressing thoughts on what could be in store for PlayStation users going forward.
When Famitsu asked him about the possibility of a PS5 Pro, mentioning that the PS4 Pro model was revealed three years after the debut of the PlayStation 4 console, Mr. Nishino had an interesting response to share.
“By the end of fiscal 2022, cumulative sales will exceed 37 million units, and we believe that it will be a very important time for the platform as well. I hope you will look forward to next year (2023),” he was quoted as saying by Insider Gaming.

Yes, it’s not a direct confirmation about PlayStation 5 getting an upgraded version, but it’s obviously a massive indication in that direction itself. Maybe Sony is currently working on the model to make a huge announcement by 2023. Another interesting thing to note is that earlier this year it was reported by several outlets that Sony is working on a new gaming console to reveal next year.

Moreover, this unannounced console is expected to have a detachable disc drive while also reducing manufacturing and shipping expenditure. This way, consumers will get a great option of purchasing the PlayStation without a drive if they want.
