But despite all this, it has to be understood that the director of the game Glen Schofield is a master video game maker and although the aesthetics of the game might be similar to that of Dead Space, The Callisto Protocol is a much more advanced and heartwarming story than it.

The Callisto Protocol director shares his thinking process about making a horror game

In his latest interview with Wired, the director of the upcoming sci-fi horror game The Callisto Protocol, Glen Schofield, who also worked on Dead Space (2008) and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (2014), answered some burning questions on how he makes video games and what are his takes on making a horror game.

One of the initial questions that Glen Schofield answered was, why horror games are much scarier than horror movies? To which he said, “Because it’s immersive. You are right there. That is you.”

While another question asked, Do horror game creators get scared of their own creation sometimes?” To which Schofield replied,No, what happens really is that after a while, you’ve played the game so many times, you don’t know if it’s scary or not.”

What else did fans ask him?

One question that was asked after this was even more curious as it said, “How do horror games come up with the most unnerving stuff?” To which the Callisto Protocol director replied, showing his love for movies, Play a lot of scary games. Watch a lot of movies. If you’re passionate about anything, right? You’re gonna get into it.” Thus, making it clear that art breeds art.

Notably, The Callisto Protocol is releasing on December 2, 2022. It is developed by Striking Distance Studios and is published for PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One, Xbox X|S, and PC by KRAFTON, Inc. and can be pre-ordered for $59.99.
