With the recent Activision takeover, Microsoft has quite a few big titles under its belt. What started with taking over Bethesda, now looks like Xbox wants to hold half the industry in their palms. But that is far from being true. During the Official Xbox Podcast, Phil was interviewed by Jeff Rubenstein and Malik Prince. In the podcast, they discussed many things about the recent acquisition.
One of the main things that came up was when Mr. Spencer was asked about Xbox’s plans for games like Call of Duty on other platforms. At this, he humorously asked, “What other platforms? You mean PlayStation? Yeah, the other Platform”. Phil went on to say that he wants PlayStation players to be a part of the Call of Duty community. He spoke about the legacy that Call of Duty Nation has built over the years. He made it clear that he wants to push the game to new heights while enabling every other Platform to have the best experience with the game.
His statement “We Have No Goal of Somehow Trying to Use Call of Duty to Get You to Buy an Xbox Console” spoke volumes. This showed how the point of acquiring Activision was not to make games more Xbox Exclusive but to enable the studio by helping them develop the best version of the games that they can.
