The news is already out regarding a soon to be GTA 6 announcement. Rockstar Games will release a reveal trailer as well by December 2023 which will surely break the internet. That’s surely a great update for fans who have been impatient ever since the biggest leak in gaming history took place more than a year ago.
One cannot deny the fact that GTA is a powerhouse of a brand in the entertainment industry – even beyond gaming. It can be understood from the sales figures of the last major installment from Rockstar, GTA V. The game arrived in 2013 and has sold over 185 million units in over 10 years (still counting). However, GTA 6 has the potential to beat this number to reach astronomical levels. What about having 500 million units? Yes, it’s possible for the next game but only when the devs and the publisher adapt a wider approach.

For the uninitiated, Grand Theft Auto V was initially launched on PlayStation and Xbox platforms only. Undoubtedly, it turned out to be the most profitable entry in the iconic open-world series. As a result, it’s still going strong while nearing the mark of 190 million sold units. Since its debut, it has witnessed an overall presence on devices like PS3, PS4, PS5, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X\S. And don’t forget the PC users. A lot of its sales have come from there too.
As of 2023, the entire Grand Theft Auto franchise has sold over 400 million units of all its games, including the last entry. But GTA 6 could be Rockstar’s jackpot project in terms of pushing the mark beyond anyone’s imagination. Thanks to the hype, unending buzz, and an unmatched level of curiosity and madness among gaming enthusiasts, the next major installment can surpass 500 million units in sales. But for this, GTA 6 needs to come out on all the platforms out there.
Meanwhile, it will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X\S, and PC and will likely break all sales records at launch.

Mobile users are everywhere these days and they can’t be ignored either. Other renowned IPs have thrived in recent years due to making their games available in paid form on phones. This strategy has heavily worked in their favor. Moreover, it has even worked for GTA.
10-year anniversary editions of GTA III and Vice City got smartphone releases. But perhaps, the one that really thrived was none other than the GTA title, which remains just as popular even today, GTA San Andreas. An Android and IOS version released in 2013. Fast forward to today, with apple looking to enter the gaming scene with its iPhone 15 pro, it will also be able to support some huge games. Assassin’s Creed Mirage and Resident Evil 4, for instance, will be getting a mobile version.
We are very excited to let you know that in early December, we will release the first trailer for the next Grand Theft Auto. We look forward to many more years of sharing these experiences with all of you.

Similarly, GTA 6 will have a wider player base to reach out if it also releases on mobile phones, alongside consoles and PCs. An optimization process can make it happen before the final release. Also, offering it via a subscription-based streaming model will only push the sales higher. This way, consumers who can’t afford to have a console, but are interested in playing, will be able to own it.
Then, there are also the Nintendo handheld consoles. Right now, GTA V is not there on a portable device like the Switch. Had it been available on it, the overall figure of 185 million would have already crossed 200 million units by now. Hence, GTA 6 has to come out on the next Nintendo console as well, together with other supported products. Adapting this multi-platform strategy will definitely give the game an upper hand.
GTA 6 can become the best-selling video game of all time, even surpassing Tetris!
Apart from becoming the top-selling GTA game of all time, Grand Theft Auto 6 is very much capable of claiming the ultimate crown of best-selling video game of all time. Currently, Tetris has it with over 520 million sold units. The figure was revealed by the Tetris Company a few months ago. Interestingly, this number also includes 425 million paid downloads on mobile devices. That’s what GTA 6 can do, and even better, only if it also comes out on handheld platforms.
