HBO’s The Last of Us is possibly the biggest TV show released this year. Everyone who watched the show has nothing but praises to sing for this post-apocalyptic show based on 2013’s Game of the Year with the same name. Even the WWE legend “Stone Cold” Steve Austin has become a fan of this show.
Many are now eagerly waiting for Season 2, which will possibly retell the events of the second game. However, there is also a lot of doubt whether it will completely adapt to the second game or not. Pedro Pascal, who plays Joel in the HBO adaptation, recently teased some information from the upcoming season.

The Chilean-born actor recently attended an interview with Esquire, where he was asked about many things related to his two hit shows, The Last of Us and The Mandalorian. But the most interesting part of this interview was when Pascal was asked if Season 2 will continue to stay true to the game for the most part.
Undoubtedly, Pedro Pascal can’t reveal everything about this upcoming season, whose shooting won’t start before the end of this year. However, he dropped a certain hint about the upcoming season in the interview. The 48-year-old actor said, “It will stay true to the game, like entirely, I think.”

Now, it is hard to believe that Pascal is saying the actual truth. After all, many actors in the past have lied or tried to hide information about their upcoming projects. But it is no secret that Season 2 would adopt the second part of the game. However, it also doesn’t mean that it would not deviate from the source material.
TLOU Showrunners are not bound by the source material
The Last of Us showrunners Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann already proved with the first season that they won’t follow the game’s plot entirely. This inaugural season had many changes to the original source. And, Mazin also revealed recently that he and Druckmann aren’t “constrained by the source material.”
