Nintendo gave fans a very pleasant surprise a while ago. It was revealed that the Nintendo Switch would soon be getting a remake of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door sometime in the future. The game’s trailer showcased how much the visuals have improved over the original. It sure looked appealing to fans, who were disappointed by the lack of any kind of launch date.

And now, it seems like fans have finally started getting their first hints at this upcoming game’s launch date. This hint came from a Korean media classification board!

Classification boards are a fun time; there’s no doubt about it. They often end up revealing much more information about gaming titles than the developers and publishers want them to. Gameplay mechanics, language, and details on certain missions—fans often get a look into games that they anticipate the most through these boards, way before the game’s launch.

A similar thing has happened with the upcoming Nintendo Switch game Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, too. South Korea’s Game Rating and Administration Committee has rated this game, and now fans have started speculating that this rating might mean this game’s launch is sooner than expected.

The certificate shows they rated this game on October 20, 2023, which was almost a week ago. Now the main question that remains is: would Nintendo launch Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door later this year or in early 2024?

Its release might go beyond the Nintendo Switch

While it is pretty evident that it would be launching way sooner than one had imagined. There’s also speculation that this title would be released on the Nintendo Switch 2 as well. This was revealed recently when some fans noticed some very interesting button prompts in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door’s trailer.

It appears that those prompts look a lot like those for a Super Nintendo Entertainment controller. This means Nintendo might have named their next console Super Nintendo Switch or Super Switch, and it would get Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door as a launch title.
