This action was highly criticized by the fans. The Official Super Smash Bros. tournament, the Panda Cup organized by Panda Global, had remained silent until this time regarding the whole drama. But recently the Esports Org broke publically posted their response and apology. But according to the community, their statement was hollow and failed to give any actual answers.

Fans believe Panda Global used Nintendo as a “scapegoat”

The statement by Panda began with a paragraph talking about how hard the team worked to create “an exciting, welcoming environment,” for the Super Smash Bros competitive scene. According to them, “Panda Cup began and continues to be a project of passion that seeks to magnify and enhance community efforts made through competitive Smash.

The statement claims that “the organizers of Smash World Tour were not required to cancel their 2022 championship even, and implicated that Panda Cup team had any influence in that regard is false.” Panda Global states that SWT canceling their event was a “disappointing” surprise for them. The response referenced many statements by Nintendo to make themselves clear from allegations.

In the statement, Panda “acknowledged and regretted” the interaction between the CEO of the org Dr. Alan Bunney, and BTS. They agreed on making efforts to rectify the situation by making changes in their internal structure and approach to contacting the main event runners, following statements to defend their CEO without providing a single direct quote from him.

How did fans react to Panda’s response?

The response was very skeptically received. The community was furious as they pointed out that the whole letter was hollow and didn’t touch upon any of the serious issues. Popular online journalist Jake Lucky wrote in a tweet, “Panda Global has responded to the allegations against their CEO Alan and the shutting down of the Smash World Tour. Reiterating they had no part in Nintendo’s decision, admitting blame for their CEO Alan in his talks with BTS, but otherwise standing by Nintendo’s statement.”

Fans poured in the replies to express their thoughts on drama. They explicitly criticized Panda Global and said that this is will be the end of the organization.
