A reliable insider revealed Florence Pugh had the offer for the role of Abby in The Last of Us season two before the writers’ strike. Pugh was reportedly one of the leading contenders for the role before the strikes, even being offered a contract.

Her work in the Black Widow movie is a good example of her ability to play action roles, which is the kind of skill that will be required to play Abby. Pugh also has considerable expertise when it comes to acting in big projects. Her work in Oppenheimer, as well as in Lady Macbeth, received a lot of praise.

What stands out for fans is the contradicting nature of these leaks. Only yesterday, sources claimed Shannon Berry was the likely choice for Abby. Signs pointed towards her being familiar with actors Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsey, as well as Neil Druckmann. As a result, most fans still feel Berry is the likely choice when it comes to playing Abby.

It is also important to remember that Pugh reportedly got the offer before the Writers’ Guild strike began. That was months ago. Regardless, creators of the show confirmed production will be delayed due to the ongoing strikes. Season 2 will only begin shooting once the strikes ends. So hopefully 2024? Although, 2025 seems more realistic.
