Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive finally announced Red Dead Redemption ports for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. This announcement did not come as a surprise to anyone, though. People have been talking about a similar announcement for a long time now. Only they were hoping for a Remaster or a Remake.
Surprisingly, this is nothing special, and that’s why fans are a bit disappointed. Another thing many fans cannot digest is the fact that this game is coming to the Nintendo Switch too. They cannot help but wonder if Nintendo’s hybrid console would even be able to run this game.

Red Dead Redemption is undoubtedly one of the most influential video games of the last generation. With this game, Rockstar Games established that they want to be much more than the developer that makes GTA games. This game told a more heartfelt story that dealt with complex emotions and gave players a very shocking ending at the end.
The game is now coming to the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. PlayStation 4, even though a last-gen console would no doubt run this game without any issue. Fans wonder, though, if the Nintendo Switch would be able to pull this off.
The answer is pretty simple: yes. The console, as most would know, has a significantly more powerful GPU than the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Those were the original consoles on which this game launched. In fact, the PS3 was pretty bad at running games back then. Most developers had a very bad time developing for that console due to the complex architecture of its CPU.

The Nintendo Switch, on the other hand, is even able to run games that never even came to seventh-generation consoles. Games like Doom 2016, Doom Eternal, Wolfenstein, and The Witcher 3 all run on this console without any problems.
Hence, it would be pretty ignorant to say the Nintendo Switch would not be able to run Red Dead Redemption. There’s even a chance that this console will run that game better than many have expected it to.

Let’s not forget LA Noire, a game that was running at 1080p on the Nintendo Switch. The same game that was stuck at 720p on its original consoles. The chip inside the Nintendo Switch might not be on par with the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X, but it is more powerful than most think it to be.
