In the current YouTube sphere, one of the biggest and most significant creators is non-other than Jimmy Donaldson aka MrBeast. Being the top dog of the website, he is considered the face of the platform. But that doesn’t mean he is always sunny with the platform. Recently, Jimmy expressed his biggest dislike about YouTube.

Jimmy brought a revolution into the content creation world. His video-making formula gave birth to a platform-wide trend where other content creators try to emulate his videos to get some interaction from his traffic. But no one has been successful in capturing what Jimmy does. At the time of writing the article, Jimmy has over 132 million subscribers and, on average, 50-100 million views on his videos.

In the past, Jimmy has been very vocal about his criticisms of the red platform. He tries his best to make the top management of the website pay heed to the shortcomings that ruin the experience of the users. He recently talked about an aspect of YouTube that he hates with “passion”.

MrBeast on what he hates the most about YouTube

Last month, Jimmy sat with MIT research scientist and YouTube podcaster Lex Fridman. In the interview, they talked about many interesting topics, including the current state of the platform. In the conversation, Jimmy said he hates the comment section of YouTube. Unlike other platforms and social media sites, there is no regulation on YouTube comments.

Jimmy said YouTube is the only place where every top comment on a video is a “scam comment”. He said, “one thing that I hate with a passion about YouTube is the comments section. It is so bad”. Giving context to his claim, Jimmy compared it with Reddit. “if you think about it, you go to Reddit to read comments. You see, the top 20 comments on a popular Reddit post are not spam”

“Have you ever clicked on something on the front page of Reddit and the most upvoted reply to it is “go check out my site right here.” and it’s like scam you over $1000 or something?” added Jimmy. “It’s people just copying and pasting. So many bots that just grab the top comment from your previous video and paste it over so the top comments of every video are the same. And the things that breakthrough are just scammers trying to get you to give them $1000 for free.”

So far, YouTube has not made any official statement or action against the spam filter in the comments. Except there has been a new feature implemented on the website that may ban users who leave abusive comments on videos. According to “Rob” from the YouTube team, “Our testing has shown that these warnings/timeouts reduce the likelihood of users leaving violative comments again,”.
