Elden Ring was a successful game, and so was God of War: Ragnarok. Elden Ring was a multi-platform game that sold 17.5 million copies by October 2022. On the other hand, God of War: Ragnarok was a PlayStation exclusive and sold over 5 million copies very close to its launch, effectively becoming the fastest-selling first-party game ever.

Both games got a lot of love from fans and critics, and both of them pretty much deserved all the success that came to them.
Elden Ring and God of War are two of the most successful games of 2022
From Software developed Elden Ring as the next step in their series of souls-borne games. The game was highly anticipated for several reasons. It is From Software’s first ever Open World game and it is the first ever game which was written by the legendary fantasy writer George R. R. Martin.
He worked on most of the game’s backstory and world-building. And fans of the series would know, this is exactly where they shine, in world-building. And maybe that’s why it got 106 Game of the year awards from several media outlets.
The second place was unsurprisingly claimed by God of War: Ragnarok. The game got 22 Game of the year awards. And we must say, it deserved every single word of praise it got. The game is a sequel to 2018’s reboot of the long-running god of war series. The way 2018’s game ended; it was no surprise that fans were indeed waiting for this game to release very eagerly.
The game ends the story that started in the previous game and it was praised for its performances, music, and improvements it made in combat over its predecessor.
Now some say that God of War’s combat was nowhere near the combat of Elden Ring in-depth, but it was still serviceable.
All in all, both these games are brilliant and both these games got all the recognition they deserved for being so good.
Fans have their own opinion about these GOTY winners
Fans of both these games have different opinions about which game deserved more awards. Some say God of War is better while others agree that Elden Ring is indeed a better game. There is also a smaller group of fans who say that both these games deserved pretty much every accolade they received.

Depending on how many total outlets participate this year, if this goes on there's a chance elden ring will break TLOU2's absolute record and Witcher 3's percentage record.

Playing it for the first time. It's entertaining, however there is nonway I would play this without using the internet for help. I got no time to be digging for secrets just to know which way to go.
