Gaming can get hard—sometimes a little too hard. Yes! People actually break their limbs and get severely injured by gaming. Although rare, accidents while gaming are not unheard of. From dislocating knees to almost dying on live streams, gamers have gone through it all. And the latest entry in this long list is a streamer named UKOG who broke his hand playing a racing sim.
There is a large, devoted community of racing fans. The high-end pieces of equipment needed to set up a proper racing rig may hold back a majority of gamers from trying out the genre, but the existing group of players who enjoy racing sims is always up for going the distance to enjoy the virtual tracks as much as possible. But no one had ever expected that even the virtual accidents would be so real that they would literally send someone to the ER.

UKOG is a British streamer who loves to play online racing sims. He has a pro-grade rig, that simulates ultra-realistic races. He uses a $2,200 Simucube racing steering wheel and other premium-grade accessories, to deliver the ultimate pro-grade experience. But little did he know his setup would perform a little too well.
On April 28, 2023, EROG shared he had dislocated his finger. He shared a clip from his stream that showed that an opponent driver crashed with his car in an online race lobby. He was holding his wheel when the misfortune befell him. Being an ultra-realistic sim, following the accident, his steering wheel spun with brutal force, severely damaging his fingers in the process.
Well….
My Simucube decided to bite hard today😬 I just had no time to react.
My FFB is set to 27% and I have safety features enabled. It was just a crazy fluke accident as my hand was lightly holding the wheel.
Only a dislocation, no broken bones. Hopefully back soon 💪 pic.twitter.com/SKGySsAo5B

“My Simucube decided to bite hard today I just had no time to react. My FFB is set to 27% and I have safety features enabled. It was just a crazy fluke accident as my hand was lightly holding the wheel.” said EROG on Twitter. In the video, his reaction says how painful the entire ordeal was. As the wheel “bit” his hand, we could hear the streamer screaming, “oh my god, my f**king hand.”
This wasn’t the first time that a racing sim had given a content creator severe pain. Two years ago, a YouTuber named “Boosted Medi” uploaded a video where he shared how his hand almost broke because of his racing rig. In the end, we would caution every racing fanatic to be careful when using pro racing rigs.

EROG himself said on Twitter, “DD wheels are actually pretty strong. You do take a risk using one (even if it is very small). So just try and be as safe as possible when doing your zooming.”
