Nintendo 3ds and Wii U have been a part of the childhoods of millions of gamers. It shaped the gaming experience for an entire generation, forging countless memories. That’s why all the fans had their hearts broken when Nintendo announced that they are going to remove more features from their beloved consoles.

Nintendo has announced that they will remove two more features from the 3DS and Wii U. From October 25, users can no longer be able to sign in to their Nintendo accounts by linking to Facebook or Twitter, nor can they share screenshots using the 3DS and Wii U image share feature.

Why is Nintendo removing these features?

Nintendo had previously announced that they are preparing to end support for both consoles and close the 3DS and Wii U eShop in March 2023. So by slowly removing features from the consoles, the company is giving clear signs that they no longer wish to continue with these consoles anymore.

After removing the sign-in features using Facebook and Twitter from the console. The company has advised the users to sign in using their email and passwords instead or use their Google or Apple account.

Nintendo is slowly removing features from the consoles every month. Like back in August, they removed the eShop card functionality from the consoles. This feature enabled the users to redeem their prepaid Nintendo cards on the Wii U and 3DS eShops.

Not only features, but Nintendo is also removing games from the eshops of both consoles. In August, Fire Emblem Fates was removed from the virtual shops. Slowly progressing towards the complete shutdown of the online stores of 3DS and Wii U.

How did the fans react to the removal of features from 3DS and Wii U?

Nintendo fans felt very disappointed and heartbroken seeing their favorite consoles slowly dying. They shared their opinions and criticisms about the decision made by the company. Tweets about the discontinuation of 3DS and Wii U are pouring in every day. Fans are feeling melancholic as if they are losing an old friend.

Some fans also supported Nintendo’s decision. According to them, the 3DS and Wii U aren’t demanding consoles anymore. So there is nothing wrong with discontinuing them if the company is facing loss, keeping them alive.
