The major competitors for Xbox are not PlayStation or Nintendo. Now, fans are wondering who it could be then. On December 7th, 2021, Phil Spencer announced: Xbox has absolutely no interest in console wars. And PlayStation and Nintendo are not the real competitors of the Xbox. For the fans who are unfamiliar with Phil Spencer, he is the head of Xbox. Spencer shared that it’s Google and Amazon, who are the Xbox’s real competitors. This might confuse many fans out there because Google and Amazon aren’t even in the gaming console business.

But as Spencer focused that it’s not about the gaming consoles anymore. It’s actually the cloud gaming service that Google and Amazon are working on. He also shared the fact that Xbox is more driven towards the growth of the gaming industry.

And by the term growth of the gaming industry, he means the cloud gaming services. Spencer also discussed Xbox’s old rivals Nintendo and PlayStation and they’re not in a state to compete in the cloud gaming market.

The head of Xbox also shared that he didn’t mean to disrespect Nintendo and PlayStation. It’s just that for Xbox, the major competitors are Google and Amazon.

Last year Amazon announced their cloud gaming service “Luna“. So, according to yahoo finance“Luna allows gamers to play high-end console and PC games on traditionally low-powered devices like smartphones, tablets, and non-gaming laptops.” But it’s still in its early access phase.

And like Luna, Google also launched its cloud gaming service, “Stadia“. It also allows the fans to enjoy their favorite video games on compatible devices. It supports all types time of games like high-end and low-end games, but the device must be compatible. For the fans who are unfamiliar with the concept of cloud gaming services. Basically, cloud gaming allows fans to play video games without actually downloading them. It just requires a high-speed internet connection and device compatibility.
