The memory of the Nintendo Switch’s reveal is still fresh for many fans. The console was announced in October 2016. Before that, people knew it by its codename, NX. When the console came into the public eye, it pretty much blew fans away.

A home console that doubles as a portable? It was a concept that many wanted to materialize but never knew was possible. Nintendo made it possible and made it successful. An underpowered yet fancy console that quickly became the third-best-selling console of all time!

So successful that Nintendo is simply following up with an upgrade. And that’s not a bad thing either, a more powerful Nintendo Switch is exactly what the world needs. And if a recent rumor is to be believed, that is exactly what the world will get in early 2024.

Recently, VGC mentioned that Nintendo has already distributed the developer kits for this new console to its partners. This was revealed a while ago too when a Spanish developer let this information slip somehow.

VGC also states that Nintendo is targeting a 2024 launch. The big news is that this upcoming console might launch with an LCD screen instead of an OLED to keep manufacturing costs down. The console is also expected to use a larger and more powerful memory module to keep up with games with more advanced visuals.

The console is inevitable, no matter when it launches. One thing everyone hopes to see is backward compatibility.
