The Zelda team is receiving a lot of praise from the fanbase because of all their hard work. However, Eiji Aonuma is the most admirable person and worthy to receive all the applause from the fandom. Aonuma is best known for helping establish the conventions of the modern Legend of Zelda games.

Eiji Aonuma is the man behind the success of the Zelda franchise for over 2 decades now. In the latest interview with Game Informer, Aonuma was asked about the future format for upcoming open-world games. Naturally, fans are excited to know if future Nintendo titles will also follow the same format as BOTW and Ocarina of Time.

Although Ocarina of Time was a great success, Aonuma revealed they are planning to follow its open-world mechanics. He explained the Ocarina of Time restricts players and Nintendo always plans to enhance the open-world experience for its users. However, on the other hand, BOTW did set up an example and criteria with its splendid open-world mechanics.

Aonuma added, “Now, I’m happy that we’ve arrived at this method where we’re giving people lots of options, and there are many answers to a single problem, and all of them can potentially be correct. I feel happy that we’ve arrived at this type of development style”.

Indeed, BOTW changed the criteria for open-world games as it lets players deeply connect with Link and learn from their failures. It’s one of the reasons why BOTW has such a huge fanbase despite being released for six long years. Moreover, its successor, TOTK, also had a very successful launch.
