Nintendo partnered with Ubisoft to publish another game under the Mario series, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope. They extended their deal, asking Ubisoft to handle development while the game would then release on Nintendo Switch.
The dates for this 2017 sequel were hampered quite sometimes until both parties concluded to drop it this October. They finalized an October 20 release date, inviting millions of Mario fans to try out the fresh title.

Now, Ubisoft has added another character five days ahead of the official release. Calling her Edge, the developers designed her with inspiration from Clint Eastwood. Ubisoft’s designers confirmed that the Rabbid would be nothing but a female version of Clint, the official pop-culture hero from the States. Ubisoft would introduce her as an RPG legend, using her sword to thrash down her enemies.
Can the Rabbids really talk now?
Well, you read that right. Ubisoft developers have found a way to let the Rabbids convey their emotions and have individual personalities in the game. Interestingly, this idea was to enhance the user experience, letting them feel and understand their characters in play. “Making them speak was, for us, a way to speak directly to the player. The message is way more direct if the characters are speaking,” said one of the developers.
Plus, Ubisoft’s UX team has been relentlessly working on improving user experience ahead of the game’s release. Andrea Scambia, the Senior designer, confirmed to have ‘built accessibility into the core of its gameplay’. However, she did not comment much on other updates, as she wanted to pace up the suspense until October 20.
