The Nintendo Switch launched back in 2017, was dismissed by some as an underpowered piece of mobile hardware. Despite this, it went on to be an instant success, and that triumph was not due to those exclusives; it was due to Nintendo’s perseverance to give its customers something new and special. Even after Wii U’s failure, they pushed, and they succeeded.
They released this console along with some programs that were a mixed bag of cross-gen games, re-releases, and some new IPs. And that was not a bad thing either; the games sold well enough initially. Fans even embraced the released games, such as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
But Nintendo continuously supported it with exciting new games, and those games kept on selling more and more. The Switch even became the first home console ever to house mainstream Pokemon titles. Hence, effectively bringing Pokemon to the HD generation.

All these achievements led to this console selling a total of 125.62 million units. This number is the combined sum of every version of this console. All of them have been bought by different groups of gamers. This has put Nintendo Switch comfortably in the position of being the second-best-selling console of all time.
To add to this, these unmatched sales have led to a really high number of software sales. So much so that the total number of physical game sales has crossed 1 billion.
