Ever since the rumor of a next-gen handheld Nintendo console has been circulating on the internet, the possibility of this console not being backward compatible had been making many people upset. But with the latest job listing, avid followers have joined the dots and speculated that this possibility may not be true.

Among the responsibility section, it was pointed out that the employee may have to work on “cross-platform development”. Nintendo, being very strict with their games being console exclusive, has made the fans believe the cross-platform has to be between Nintendo Switch and the upcoming next-gen platform.

This theory was also supported by the avid Nintendo fan and one of the most trusted content creators in the community, SwitchForce. In one of his latest videos, the YouTuber took a detailed dive into the document’s content and shared speculations and theories that are revolving around it.

Why the new console may not have backward compatibility?

The culprit behind the problem is the choice of processing power in the current Switch, Nvidia Tegra X1. Although the chip possesses decent processing speed in a very compact body, it was created for even older systems, such as the Nvidia Shield. It is nowhere close to the modern age requirements.
