Nintendo’s latest console Switch might be soon on its way to overtake PlayStation from its position in the best-selling console list. The console has apparently already outsold Nintendo Wii’s lifetime sales and is on the way to outsell top PlayStation consoles as well.
The Wii had a lifetime sale of 101.63 million consoles compared to Switch with its lifetime sales of 101.88 million consoles to date. Let’s check out how the Switch compares in sales in terms of the other available consoles in the market.

Nintendo Switch numbers rank incredibly high in the top-selling console charts
The Switch sold more than 1.16 million units in the final week of December 2021. This added up to the tally of lifetime sales numbers 101.88 million units, easily beating Nintendo Wii with 101.63 million units of lifetime sales. The figures for Switch includes all the variations of the console such as Switch, Switch Lite and Switch OLED.

Currently, the Switch is the fourth best-selling console of all time. It is led by PlayStation 1 with 102.49 million units, PS4 with 116.80 million units to date and Game Boy with 118.69 million units. The Switch is just about 0.61 million units shy of beating the PlayStation, 14.92 million units of PlayStation 4, and 16.81 million units of the GameBoy.
Breaking these figures down, the sales in the United States, Europe and Japan has been phenomenal for the Switch garnering 34.74 million, 26.90 million and 22.98 million, respectively. Furthermore, if broken further down to calculate the sales for countries in Europe. the sales in UK, France, and Germany are amazing with 5.14 million, 6.68 million, and 5.44 million units sold respectively.

For the Switch games, almost 681 million units were sold globally and here are the top 10 best selling Switch games, according to VGChartz.
