As the war among the best consoles is escalating each day, there are a lot of new scenarios emerging out quite surprisingly. But one thing which isn’t surprising, by any means, is that Nintendo Switch was, once again, the best-selling device for April’s third week. It’s going strong while keeping Xbox and PlayStation behind by healthy margins.

Latest reports have revealed that Nintendo Switch sold 280,576 units. On the other hand, its arch-rivals PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S sold 183,969 units and 150,483 respectively.

As reported by VGChartz, the third week of this month saw the Switch reaching to a new lifetime sales figure. After selling 280,576 units as of April 16, 2022, Nintendo Switch has now sold an estimated 107.03 million units worldwide, since its 2017 release.

The accomplishment is huge for the popular handheld console. Because with this, it has taken another big leap in its quest to reach the current record of the previous Nintendo hit device, the DS. Originally launched in 2004 and 2005, the DS is a dual-screen device that arrived as the successor to the Game Boy.

As of April 2022, the Nintendo DS has sold 154.9 million units across the globe. It’s a staggering feat and the Switch is still far away from eclipsing it. But the way it’s growing rapidly at the moment, it’s likely to achieve this objective soon in the future.

Speaking of the other two consoles, then PlayStation 5 has now sold an estimated 18.99 million units in its lifetime. On the other hand, the Xbox Series X|S has sold around 14.16 million units so far since its release.

Coming back to Nintendo Switch, then it has also offered one of the most played games in 2022. Players have thoroughly enjoyed the likes of Pokemon Legends: Arceus and the recent blockbuster Kirby and the Forgotten Land. With such options, the handheld console has succeeded in keeping the users hooked.

Meanwhile, there are even more Nintendo titles coming later this year. Awaited games like Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are looking to recreate the magic of Arceus and Kirby.
