Nintendo Switch is facing production issues because of the global chip shortage

Those who are looking to buy next-gen consoles know the pain very well. Despite all the demand in the market right now, Nintendo has to make 20% fewer consoles than planned. Unfortunately, this is going to affect a lot of players in 2022.

It looks like the Japanese company won’t be able to meet its production target on time, courtesy of chip shortage. This time, Nintendo will only produce 24 million. Originally, Nintendo planned to produce approximately 30 million consoles by March 2022.

One of the major reasons behind this shortage is the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions. Covid-19 disrupted the way of the life as well as the production of many things, including semiconductors. Multiple big companies had to shut down the work completely due to safety reasons.

Nintendo is not the only one who is facing this issue. PlayStation and Xbox pieces are also facing the same production issues and shortages in the market. According to some reports, the shortage will last as long as 2023. But there are also people who believe the shortage will last into 2024 or 2025.
