The year 2022 perhaps belongs to the Mario maker Nintendo as it’s constantly succeeding over the last few months. Firstly, Pokemon Legends: Arceus swayed the players of Nintendo Switch, then Kirby and Forgotten Land turned into a smash hit. Then the most recent launch in Switch Sports also became a popular title among the fans, as it’s currently doing great in sales.

But Nintendo is not done yet, at least for this year. It’s a known fact that the Switch console has been one of the best-selling hardware devices in many countries globally. And finally, it just proved its mettle in the Japanese region as well. As per the latest reports, it’s now become the third best-selling console ever in the country.

Since its initial launch in March 2017, the Switch has maintained its craze among the fans. With a wide array of appealing titles and overall gameplay experience, it has rarely disappointed the users. Probably that’s one of the main reasons for its ever-growing popularity.

While it has managed to reign supreme in terms of sales in most countries, there are some markets where it’s yet to reach the top of the list. Japan is one such region where Nintendo Switch is yet to claim the first position.

However, the console just took a huge leap toward the crown of best-selling hardware in Japan.

As reported by Video Game Charts, translated from Famitsu, Nintendo Switch has now become the 3rd highest selling console ever in the Asian nation.

The Nintendo DS and GameBoy are still on top, with 33 million and 32 million lifetime sales, respectively. But the Switch is now only 8 million units behind them. Considering the possibility of there being no successor of the Switch until 2024, it seems likely that it has a good chance of finishing the job.
