Nintendo Switch continues to dominate the sales chart

As per February 2022 US NPD, Switch was the best-selling hardware platform of February 2022. The second rank has been taken by Xbox and the 3rd one is most probably PlayStation.

With all the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions causing the chip shortage, manufacturing as many consoles as the companies would like remains a challenge.

Even after 2 years, it is next to impossible to get your hands on a next-gen console. Above all, as per the reports, consumer spending on hardware consoles and accessories fell 6% as compared to February 2021.

Furthermore, as per the reports, “Video game hardware dollar sales fell 27% when compared to February 2021, to $295 million. Year-to-date dollar sales are 5% lower than a year ago, at $685 million. The hardware market remains in a supply constrained state.”

However, something worth noting here is that Nintendo Switch is proving to be one of the best decisions for the Japanese Company. Since its launch way back in 2017, the handheld device has never failed to be in the top charts in terms of sales. Where major companies like Sony Interactive Entertainment and Microsoft’s offerings suffered due to chip shortage issues, Switch stepped up to take the charge.

From new game releases to multiple big announcements, Nintendo continues to surprise its fans, with 2021 being a blockbuster hit for Nintendo Switch and it is showing no sign of slowing down in the near future.
