Every Nintendo console gets a new Mario Kart game, just like every Nintendo console gets a mainline Mario game, a Smash Bros. game, and a legend of Zelda title. Following this tradition, Nintendo launched a Mario Kart game for their stereoscopic console 3DS.

Mario Kart 7 is still getting Nintendo’s support

MK 7 launched for Nintendo 3DS in December 2011. After 11 years of their launch, games usually are considered either classics or dead. Now MK 7 is not a game that can die very easily. Gamers still enjoy their time with it thoroughly. It’s a classic game that gives teenagers and kids a lot of fun time.

And maybe that’s what inspired Nintendo to not give up on this game. Recently, Kotaku gave out a notice saying that MK 7 was updated to version 1.2. Even though this update did not bring with it any new content, no characters or tracks. But according to its changelog, this update fixes, “Several issues have been addressed to improve the gameplay experience.” The last update of MK7, 10 years ago, brought with it several new courses, such as Wuhu Loop, Maka Wuhu, and Bowser’s Castle 1.

MK 8, on the other hand, keeps growing

Nintendo is working hard on expanding MK 8: Deluxe for Nintendo switch. They have been continuously releasing courses and cups for their latest Mario kart game. It must be noted that this might be Nintendo’s longest-running MK game.

MK 8 is the only game in the series that a console carried over from its predecessor, this game originally launched for Nintendo’s Wii U console in 2014.
