It looks like this year, Evo would be missing out on an important fighting game, as Nintendo has decided to pull the rug from under Super Smash Bros..
This title served as one of the main attractions for both players and spectators. The game had featured in the championship for a long time. Sadly, 2022’s edition will miss out on it as the Japanese no longer want to work with the organization. Evo took to Twitter to announce the news and stated that the community is truly saddened to see one of its main-stay titles leave.

Evo 2022 is missing out on Super Smash Bros. because of Nintendo
The tournament organizers shared the news and hoped that next year they will once again be united with the iconic title. Super Smash Bros. has been an important part of the fighting game community, and it’s incredibly sad to see it go.

“We want to let you know in advance that Super Smash Bros will not be making a return appearance. Since 2007, we’ve seen historic Super Smash Bros moments created at Evo’s events. We are saddened that Nintendo has chosen not to continue that legacy with us this year. In the future, we hope to once again celebrate Super Smash Bros. community alongside them.”

Gamers will not be able to take this news lightly, as Evo serves as one of the most important events of the year.
