We all know Nintendo Switch’s Joy-Con has drifting problems. While Nintendo has tried improving the player experience but the issue still prevails. The drifting problem arises due to the Joy-Con controllers registering false controls, which often affects the gameplay.

Nintendo’s stance on this issue has been neutral. Surprisingly, the Japanese video game giant claims they know about the issues and are working to fix the problem. They also informed gamers that the Joy-Con’s deteriorate over time.

Nintendo Switch’s Joy-Con drifting issues might remain forever

In an “Ask the developer” episode, Nintendo admitted the fact that Joy-Con drifting issues exist and the company has been seeing steady improvements in Nintendo Switch’s Joy-Cons. Nintendo’s General Manager of Technology, Ko Shiota, did emphasize that the Joy-Con will become worn over time.

When questioned whether “wear is unavoidable as long as the parts are physically in contact” for the Joy-Con controller, Ko Shiota stated the following.

“Yes, for example car tires wear out as the car moves, as they are in constant friction with the ground to rotate. So with that same premise, we asked ourselves how we can improve durability, and not only that, but how can both operability and durability coexist? It’s something we are continuously tackling.”

This is bad news for users and there’s no one at fault here. Nintendo Switch’s Joy-Cons are devices and it’s common for devices to experience wear and tear. So, the best you can do is to use the controllers with care. 

As per the company, the newer Nintendo Switch OLED gets the latest improved Nintendo Switch’s Joy-Cons controller. However, this doesn’t make it immune from the drifting issues. It remains to be seen how Nintendo gets past the Nintendo Switch’s Joy-Con drifting problems.
