Nintendo launched its Hybrid console Switch in 2017. Even though there were naysayers, this console really broke a bunch of records. And it became a to-go secondary console for numerous gamers.

Some fans bought it for exclusives and others bought it to play games like Skyrim and Doom on the go. Nintendo really did a lot right with this console, it seems. To this day, it’s almost all the time at the top of sales charts or at least in the top 10.

Nintendo Switch still has a lot of steam left

Gamers have been great lovers of the Nintendo Switch for over five years now. But some have always missed it, having visuals on par with its competition Xbox and PlayStation consoles. But exclusives like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Pokemon, Super Mario Odyssey, and Metroid have kept it going.

But recently some have started speculating that maybe, the end of Nintendo Switch is close. It has started showing its age. It is getting harder and harder for developers to port their games to this system and it has mostly become a go-to console for indies and exclusives.

But some have stated that there’s still a lot Nintendo Switch fans can look forward to in 2023. For all intents and purposes, it’s pretty clear that its exclusives keep Switch going. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet proved that by selling over 10 million copies in a mere three days of its launch, it broke the record of five million made by God of War Ragnarok in a week.

When a console’s exclusives hold such power and when a console has a number of exclusives yet to come next year, it becomes hard for anyone to imagine it slowing down anytime soon.

Besides anticipating the success of the upcoming Zelda game and some other Switch exclusives, fans have also been expecting Nintendo to reveal a successor to this Hybrid console sometime next year. It is being said that it would hold enough power to run games in 4k and would be backward compatible with the current crop of Switch games.

It has not been denied either. People have been pointing out that it is a custom for Nintendo to launch most Zelda games on two generations of consoles at once. So who knows, maybe we will see a new console in 2023? Even if we don’t, if fans are to be believed, Switch is still carrying Nintendo for a couple more years.
