When the Nintendo Switch launched back in 2017, fans were pretty hyped about those little controllers. Joy-Cons were what Nintendo called them, and each one of them worked independently when detached from the console. The amount of freedom and flexibility these controllers offered was unlike anything ever seen before. And the addition of that HD rumble feature took immersion to a whole new level.

But they had a glaring issue, one that resulted in a class action lawsuit in the USA, and now, after years of people suffering from this problem, it appears Nintendo has decided to come through.

All Nintendo Switch owners can get their Joy-Cons repaired free of charge in EEA and UK

While the Nintendo Joy-Cons were perfect, as mentioned above, these controllers had one glaring issue. Imagine playing Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and when you decide to target an enemy in front of you, Link turns left or right on his own. And he keeps turning no matter what you do.

No, Link does not have a mind of his own in that game; the problem is that the joysticks in those Joy-Cons collect dust, which makes them drift. That drifting is not even a one-off issue; this keeps on repeating itself, and gamers keep getting frustrated with this issue.

It appears that after years of fans complaining and grieving over this issue, Nintendo has decided to come through. They have announced that they will be fixing all the Joy-Cons in the UK and EEA. Even if those controllers are out of warranty, the company would still fix them.

It appears before they launch their next generation console, Nintendo is working hard on garnering some goodwill from fans they dissed with their ignorance of this issue all these years. This announcement was made recently through Nintendo’s support page.

This has allowed Nintendo’s long-time Switch users to take a sigh of relief. As this would help them prepare much better for the upcoming The Legend of Zelda: tears of the Kingdom.

Hall sensor analog sticks are the answer!

The answer to this widespread problem has been on the market for a while now. People have taken it upon themselves to replace their stock joysticks with ones that have hall sensors. These sticks have no chance of having the drift issue, as they are mechanically very different from the original ones that Nintendo uses.
