In the Legend of Zelda series of games, Zelda and Link have a bond like no one else has ever had. This bond sprouts from the fact that they have been saving each other from all kinds of evil over the years, primarily Ganon.
But in one of the newer trailers for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, fans noticed that Zelda seems to talk about Link as if she does not even know him. This has sparked speculation that maybe she has lost her memory somehow.
She says to some character, “Yeah, sure, Link. I’ll try to remember his name,” at one point in that trailer. Some other people explained that maybe it’s a time travel-based story.

The hardcore fans, though, are not very happy about this and have specifically explained that they do not believe that she has forgotten Link at all. One of them on Reddit referenced the Japanese version of the same trailer, where Zelda actually says something that translates to “The darkness-sealing sword-possessing knight you told us about. We entrust everything to Link.”
