Nintendo has been one of the topmost bankable gaming developers. The makers started off the year with the announcement of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. The title was the sequel to 2017’s The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The company also pleasantly surprised the fans with the release of Metroid Prime Remastered on Nintendo Switch. These releases marked the banger return of Nintendo to mainstream competition. 

The massive fan base that comes with the brand is justified, considering its performance in recent times. Even with surreal expectations, the developers haven’t failed to deliver satisfactory work. Also, adding a Nintendo Direct to the fan table just added to the fun. The competition has been intense for the developers this year. But analytical numbers suggest that Nintendo titles are in a different league altogether!

Nintendo Surpasses Super-Hit Titles, Bags The Top 2 Spots In Best Rated Games List

A title is mostly judged on two aspects to consider its success. One obviously is the numbers it is able to make while the other is the critical parameters. Metacritic has officially announced the list of the top 20 titles of 2023 so far. While a lot of giant names make it to the list, Nintendo with no surprises gained the top 2 spots. Doomblade, Age of Wonders 4, Labyrinth of Galleria: The Moon Society, Cassette Beasts, Hogwarts Legacy, The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog, Octopath Traveler II, A Space For The Unbound, Humanity, Paranormasight: The Seven Mysteries of Honjo were among the top 20.

The titles that made it to the top 10 list were also among the most talked about titles in recent times. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Diablo IV, Hi-Fi Rush, Theatrhythm Final Bar Line, Final Fantasy XVI, Dead Space, Street Fighter 6, Resident Evil 4 remake, and Metroid Prime Remastered were the rankings in order up to the runner-up. The winner of the list was undoubtedly The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. The game doesn’t necessarily shake up the recent Zelda formula but executes everything to near perfection. The highlight is the freedom for the players to express their creativity in the gameplay.

The year 2023 has been a long-lived success affair for the Japanese gaming giant. Tears of the Kingdom also became the first title of the year to receive a perfect score on Famitsu ratings. A Nintendo Direct later on added to the fan celebrations. The ultimate hype and numbers are just the mere statement of the dominance of Nintendo in the market today.
