Nintendo met huge success with its competitive third-person shooter series Splatoon. The latest game in the series, Splatoon 3 released for Nintendo Switch in 2022. The game got a positive response from fans and critics alike. It also sold in high numbers and proved a success for Nintendo.
And now, as is custom with Nintendo, they have announced an Expansion Pass for this game too. But it appears this expansion is not as clever a decision for Nintendo as an Expansion Pass for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe!
It appears Nintendo should not have announced an Expansion Pass for Splatoon 3!

Nintendo made an announcement during a recent Direct that Splatoon 3 would be getting an Expansion Pass. This Expansion Pass was instantly made available to purchase. It was also announced that Splatoon 3 would get two waves of major content with this Expansion Pass.
The first wave would release in the spring of 2023 and would include Inkopolis. This is a new squid city based on the original Splatoon title. This would include a bunch of new shops where you can purchase a bunch of weapons. Other than that, this area would have all the trappings of a generic hub area only in a new skin.

And the Second Wave would include something called Side Order. Now Side Order is something that does not even have a release window. This means that this part of the expansion would be launching sometime later this year and would be the real meat of this Expansion Pass.
And this is exactly why some are calling this Nintendo’s worse announcement yet. Nintendo is hoping that fans would simply buy this Expansion Pass just for a new hub area! Fans do not even know what Side Order is, and they do not even know when it would be launching, so a new hub area is not much to write home about.
There are some speculations that maybe Side Order is the real deal here, and that’s why it is coming late. Some are going as far as to say that Wave two’s Side Order would be a single-player campaign mode. If that is true, it would be the first time this series would get a real campaign.
