Nintendo Direct 2023: Mario Jumps Back to the Side-Scrolling Roots With a Brand New 2D Adventure for the Switch

Nintendo Direct just unveiled a brand new entry in the blockbuster Mario franchise. Interestingly, this upcoming game will go back to the classic era of side-scrolling installments from the Japanese giant.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder is going to be the new Switch offering for the fans in 2023. Moreover, they won’t have to wait longer in order to enjoy it on their devices. That’s because it’s coming later this year for the existing handheld console.

What to expect from Super Mario Bros. Wonder on Nintendo Switch?

The Japanese giant has witnessed a winning streak in 2023. Following the massive success of the theme park in Super Nintendo World, the company followed it up with a billion-dollar Mario animated movie. And now, the fan-favorite character is set to woo everyone once again – but with an old twist!

Speaking of the next major Nintendo title, it’s called Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Going by the reveal trailer for the same, it’s set to bring back the old-school side-scrolling, 2D magic in modern-day. However, that’s not everything players will get to experience.

They will also get to use some weird, yet new abilities. One of them will enable them to literally turn Mario into an elephant. When it comes to the Super Mario franchise itself, its first mainline game was 2017’s Odyssey. Since then, fans have received offerings like Super Mario Maker 2, Super Mario 3D All-Stars, and the 3D World DLC named Bowser’s Fury.

In other words, Bros. Wonder will be the first new entry in recent years for the iconic Plumber. Not to mention that it will also grant a big opportunity to new players to dive into the world of 2D side-scrolling experience.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder will make its way to Nintendo Switch on October 20th, 2023. Other crucial details will be revealed in the coming months before the eventual date of its debut across the globe.
