The seasonal changes are nearly here! Animal Crossing: New Horizons is about to experience a huge seasonal change update on the island. It mostly follows the usual seasonal shift in two hemispheres – the Northern hemisphere and the Southern hemisphere. With this in mind, players get to experience green lush grass in summer, beautiful snowfall and snow showers in winter, mesmerizing flowers, greenery, rainfall, and thunderstorms in spring and not to mention, the colorful changes in leaves and environment in fall.

However, interestingly, some of the seasonal changes and updates take longer to arrive than players might expect. Since it’s a pretty big change on the Island, it’s important to know when these seasonal changes are going to arrive on the island.

Players can expect tons and tons of changes on the island as spring arrives. Some of the highly popular and loved changes include – tress changing colors, melting down of snow, grass becoming greener and this list goes on and on.

These changes occur over several weeks. However, the one thing that changes overnight in the New Horizons‘ seasonal change in Norther Hemisphere is, of course, the snow and the weather pattern. That unfortunately means no more snow showers. As it turns out, just when snow disappears, heavy rainfalls finally return to the weather pattern. The return of rainfall also means butterflies won’t spawn so much because, for some reason, the butterfly doesn’t really get along with rain in New Horizons.

Naturally, with rain comes a thunderstorm. A very rare weather phenomenon that can now be encountered is thunderstorms. It typically comprises very heavy rainfall along with some lightning, super dark rain clouds, thunder, and, of course, some super immersive sound effects. Interestingly, Spring is a very windy season in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, adding to the ultimate thunderstorm experience.

Other than this, thunderstorms are primarily aesthetic experiences but do count as heavy rainfall. So naturally, any villagers you see outside in a thunderstorm will be properly dressed in their rain gear.
