The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 has taken on a unique position in the gaming community. The sequel to the seminal Nintendo title has been on people’s wishlists ever since its reveal during E3 2021. And for good reason, BOTW boasted an immersive game world, rich gameplay, and a story that would strike the fancy of any Nintendo fan. So fans hope that the sequel would build on the original in every regard.

However, other than the teaser in 2021, fans lack details about the upcoming Nintendo juggernaut. This has resulted in intriguing fan theories and suggestions regarding what the community would like to see integrated into BOTW 2. Likewise, the YouTube channel SwitchForce has its own ideas.

Nintendo should add big dungeons to BOTW 2

Zach from SwitchForce gives the fans his own wishlist of improvements and changes he would like to see in the sequel. He goes over a nifty list that includes a new villain, a newfound emphasis on champions, and of course, Nintendo’s forte, dungeons! Zach notes.

“I really want Link to dive back into some traditional dungeons. Nintendo makes phenomenal puzzle boxes. It’s their version of an escape room and I want to see those not escape this game.”

The Legend of Zelda series is synonymous with exciting dungeons and puzzles. The series is rife with brain teasers that test the player’s mettle in more ways than sheer brawn. That’s part of what makes the adventure title such a hit with players worldwide.

Zach elaborates that players love the expansiveness of the original Breath of the Wild. And so the sequel adding the traditional Zelda dungeons to that huge open-world would be a massive improvement. But he acknowledges there are some issues the developers would have to contend with to make that possible.

One huge selling point about dungeons in the previous games was how players received an item that was exclusive to that dungeon upon completion. However, BOTW’s non-linear gameplay makes that a tough job. But Zach has an answer.

He mentions ‘A Link Between Worlds’ and how that game’s idea of mixing up the order of items could be a potential solution. This hybrid-item formula would vary each gamer’s playthrough, and make the next title one that eager fans would flock to.
