However, having such a vast catalog can also become a headache sometimes, even for a giant like Nintendo. And it was recently revealed by its president during a meeting.
Nintendo president reveals they can’t realistically make sequels to every request made by the fans
As reported by VGC, president Shuntaro Furukawa was speaking in a general meeting earlier this week. During the meeting, one shareholder asked him if they will consider bringing new installments or remakes in some of their dormant franchises like F-Zero or Wario Land. To this, Furukawa replied by saying that Nintendo cannot realistically make sequels to every series that fans want to have.
“It is realistically difficult to develop new titles and remakes, including sequels, for every Nintendo game that people request, but we are very grateful and appreciate the expectations our fans have for our games,” said the president.
Adding to this and explaining the reason why it’s not easy to do, Shinya Takahashi, senior managing executive officer, presented his own response. He mentioned that Nintendo was asked to make sequels and remakes in the past that it already had in development. “We are always considering how to develop new titles and remakes that can be enjoyed by many players,” said Takahashi.

He said that in 2019 as they were asked about making a remake of the Famicom Detective Club series. Coincidentally, they were already working on it that year. “That is an example where we were already actively developing such a title.”

Simply put, as per Takahashi, Nintendo “can’t tell you if there are any plans for future remakes of any specific game”. However, he emphasized on the point that they always work on ensuring an enjoyable experience for the fans.
What’s next from the Japanese giant?
As of now, Nintendo is believed to be working on an awaited remaster of Metroid: Prime. On the other hand, IPs like F-Zero, Star Fox, Wave Race, and Pilotwings are in a dormant state.
