Star Wars Day is an informal commemorative day observed annually on May 4 to celebrate the Star Wars media franchise. Furthermore, May 4 (May the Fourth) also resembles the franchise iconic phrase “May the force be with you.” In order to celebrate Star Wars Day, Nintendo has announced a massive sale for the franchise fans.

Nintendo’s tweet read, “In celebration of Star Wars Day, don’t miss out on these big savings on classic STAR WARS titles for #NintendoSwitch! Sale ends 5/5 at 11:59pm PT.”

Indeed, fans were amazed after hearing Nintendo’s announcement. One comment read, “Wow! I love the Nintendo Switch eShop! Getting 60$ Wii games is really cheap for everyone and absolutely decent!Especially when theses games are programmed on Windows 98 and on floppy disks !”

Moreover, another fan said, “I know licensing is a big issue, but can we get the NES Star Wars games, Super Star Wars games and Shadows of the Empire on Switch Online and Rogue Squadron games?” To which another user replied, “I don’t think it’s a licensing issue. Super Star Wars is available on PS4, Shadows and Rogue Squadron 1 are both on Steam. Probably more just lack of interest from one or both sides.”
