Nine Years Later, GTA Continues to Break Records Despite Elden Ring Dominance

It seems like Grand Theft Auto V is still being able to carry the numbers despite being over a decade old since its inception. The game is one of the most popular ones that Rockstar has ever produced and it is currently beating the latest games on the next-gen consoles, and this proves that GTA V still continues to be a fan favorite in the community.

GTA V continues to dominate the gaming industry with incredible numbers

As you can see in the above mentioned tweet, GTA V continues to amass staggering numbers despite being almost a decade old. GTA V is currently the second most downloaded game in the European Union on PlayStation 5 and has topped Elden Ring as of March 2022.  In the EU, Elden Ring sits at the third place with Gran Turismo 7 occupying the first position.

Furthermore, in the United States, Elden Ring might be at first place but Grand Theft Auto V still continues to be at the top 5, occupying the fourth place in the chart. Here is the chart comparing sales in EU and USA/Canada, as per the PlayStation Blog.

The other games in this list includes WWE 2K22 as well which released just a while back. The game is appearing in the Top 5 spot for both USA/Canada and European Union which makes us believe that the game is becoming a relative success. The WWE 2K franchise in the recent few years had been facing quite a setback but this franchise might make a quite rapid comeback with this latest installment in the series.

Nevertheless, the dominance of GTA V still proves that how Rockstar’s open world masterpiece is still a relevant and classic title forever immortalized in the gaming community.
