When the Nintendo Switch was launched back in 2017, there were many games that were promised for it. Most of those games were launched and were pretty successful too. Games like Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild even became an inseparable part of Nintendo’s history.

But one huge game that was never spoken of again remained. A game that fans have been waiting very impatiently for. Nintendo revealed Metroid Prime 4 back then, and until a while ago the game was without any update, but recently a leak has suggested some interesting things about it!

Ever since its first installment, the Metroid Prime series has been seen as a precursor for Metroidvania’s first-person shooters. A fast-paced series that gives fans a new perspective on the world they have loved so much for so many years.

One would wonder if the popularity of this series has dwindled over the years, given the fact that Nintendo has not released a new installment in years. This was proven wrong recently when Nintendo launched a game called Metroid Prime Remastered for the Nintendo Switch, which became pretty successful. The game looked pretty good for a remaster, and fans could see Nintendo had put some work into it.

What happened to Metroid Prime 4, though? The game that every fan has been waiting for for around five to six years now? Well, in 2021, news suggested that the game’s development got delayed due to Nintendo not being happy with the direction it was taking. Nintendo then handed over the game to Retro Studios, the same studio that developed the first game in the series. This means it’s in good hands.

Now, a recent leak suggests the game would be huge and contain a bunch of semi-open-world areas. This trend of featuring semi-open-world areas started with games like God of War. Its recent sequel Ragnarok expanded on that idea and introduced more such areas.

If Metroid Prime 4 features such areas it would mean the delay was fruitful. Of course, what matters most is the gameplay, which no doubt would be fun. Retro Games and Nintendo never disappoint in that regard.
