The launch of Apex Legends Season 8 on February 2 will introduce a range of fresh content to the game. Fuse, the champion of the planet Salvo, is joining the Apex Games as the newest Legend, and he is bringing his planet’s most popular firearm, the 30-30 Repeater with him.

The 30-30 Repeater is a lever-action rifle capable of picking apart the opposition with hard-hitting rounds. Fans got the first glimpse of the new weapon in action during the recently released Season 8 gameplay trailer.

Now, SoaR general manager and content creator, Dazs, has presented an early look and a detailed breakdown of this gun’s gameplay, thanks to EA’s Game Changers program.

Intricate details about the 30-30 Repeater rifle in Apex Legends Season 8: Ammo count, Charge Bar, and damage numbers

In the video, Dazs talks about the perks and quirks of the new Season 8 weapon in-depth and provides some useful tips for practicing with it. For the basics, the 30-30 Repeater classifies as a weapon using heavy ammo and starts with a base ammo count of 6. Each higher-level magazine increases the ammo count by two, reaching a maximum of 12 rounds with a Level 3 purple mag.

The most important and interesting feature of the 30-30 Repeater is its charge bar. This unique mechanic will allow players to charge their shots while aiming down sights for dealing more damage. The charge bar fills rather quickly and its placement varies depending on the sight equipped.

A fully charged headshot inflicts 100 damage, while a fully charged body shot does 57 damage. Spamming body shots without charging deals 42 damage each, and finally, an uncharged headshot deals 74 damage. However, firing midway before the charge is complete will cause the weapon to scale its damage accordingly.

Dazs mentions that the 30-30 Repeater falls in between a G7 Scout and a Longbow and is a perfect weapon to pack a punch from mid-range to long-range shots. This is because a G7 Scout has a faster rate of fire with less damage, whereas a Longbow comes with more damage at a slower firing rate. The sights that can be fitted on the new gun include 1x, 2x, 3x, and 2x-4x. Players cannot attach higher scopes like 4x-8x and 6x on it.

The 30-30 Repeater and the new gold magazine will be a hard-hitting combo in Season 8: Mayhem

An important thing to delve into is the reload mechanism of the 30-30 Repeater. While this rifle can acquire a large magazine size, it reloads bullets individually. Therefore, reloading before an entire magazine runs out is a smart move, as the gun will take a while to reload from empty.

This is where the Level 4 gold magazine, another new addition in Season 8, comes at the perfect time. This attachment will help offset the issue regarding the 30-30’s reload speed. Putting on the gold magazine will automatically reload any weapon after 5.5 seconds.

After the time has elapsed, the player can switch back to the weapon, ready to enter the fray again. This auto-reload feature will spare players of the lengthy reload mechanism of the 30-30 Repeater.

To help understand where the new rifle will fit into the meta, Dazs highlighted its bullet drop in contrast to other guns. Turns out the Repeater has a similar bullet drop compared to the G7 Scout. On the other hand, Longbow and Sentinel come with much lesser bullet drop.
