

Online streaming giant Netflix recently strengthened its foothold in the video game industry with the recent acquisition of Night School Studio. Night School Studio is the developer behind the popular supernatural game Oxenfree. This announcement follows Night School Studio’s recent successful entry into the gaming market.

The game developers went to their blog to express their pleasure and satisfaction with the recent acquisition. They felt that this move would help the studio further develop its goal of exploring interactive narrative projects.
Furthermore, the blog stated,”Night School wants to stretch our narrative and design aspirations across distinctive, original games with heart. Netflix gives film, TV, and now game makers an unprecedented canvas to create and deliver excellent entertainment to millions of people. Our explorations in narrative gameplay and Netflix’s track record of supporting diverse storytellers were such a natural pairing. It felt like both teams came to this conclusion instinctively.“

The studio went on to assure players that this acquisition bodes well for what the studio had envisioned for the future. They feel that Netflix will be able to provide film and TV makers, and even game developers, a platform and a blank canvas to amaze and entertain an audience of millions.
The studio reassured fans that the Netflix team had taken the utmost care to respect the studio’s culture and creative vision. The developers finally said that the sequel to Oxenfree, Oxenfree 2: Lost Signals, is set to release. Oxenfree 2: Lost Signals will release for all announced platforms, including the Nintendo Switch.

The studio also has prior experience in working alongside TV franchises. Night School Studio had previously worked on Mr. Robot:1.51exfiltrati0n on IOS and Android, which was well received.
Oxenfree
Oxenfree is a supernatural thriller revolving around a group of friends who inadvertently open a ghostly rift. The game utilizes a unique way of visual storytelling and features multiple endings based on the player’s actions throughout the game.
