1. Bright Bomber’s Glider
The Bright Bomber combo, initially released in 2019, became a popular choice for players. A gamer would discover four years into the skin’s release that pressing the shoot button while wearing the set will launch rainbow rockets from the glider!
2. Briefcase Graffiti
Early on in the game, players could find orange briefcases with ‘Thor’ written on them in graffiti. No one realized developers were building to Marvel’s superheroes featured in the game, as Thor and other heroes made appearances in Fortnite.
3. Peely’s Origin Story
Peely quickly became a popular skin choice in the game. Skin creator Donald Mustard revealed his brother Chad’s dislike of bananas inspiring him to create the Peely skin. Who knew sibling dynamics could bring iconic skins? An iconic story for an iconic skin.
4. Pump Shotgun’s Secret Message
The legendary pump shotgun became a memorable weapon for players, but it took a long time to spot a message written on it. The message says 110693, referring to Jurassic Park’s release date of June 11, 1993. Interesting tribute to a legendary franchise!
5. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson Feature
During the Foundation reveal, the voice and suit matched the profile of Hollywood star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. A year down the line when the suit was unmasked to show The Rock, the moment nearly broke the Internet.
6. The Island Flip Teaser
While the island flipping was certainly a surprise, Epic teased it long ago. As John Jones dives into the zero point, the camera flips to show the island, foreshadowing the island flip to come.
7. John Jones Age Reveal
John Jones has been a part of the Fortnite storyline for a long time, yet no one really knew how old he was. The comics revealed he has grandchildren and is over hundreds of years old. John Jones is, in fact, immortal! A fitting backstory for an amazing character.
8. Dog Tags for Skins
When skins were first introduced in the game, each one featured dog tags. However, no one realized Epic took away dog tags from newer skins. A very easy detail to miss.
9. The Miles Morales Reveal
As different characters from Miles Morales’ Spider-Man such as the Prowler and Gwen Stacy’s Spider-Man joined the game, players were hinted at the arrival of Miles Morales by a comic at the Daily Bugle. More references would follow and Miles joined the game with a nod to his leap of faith from Spiderman: Into the Spider-verse.

10. Prison Cell Mystery

The prison cell found in Chapter Two had a calendar on one of the walls with two dates highlighted: one for a birthday and one with an X. Consequently, gamers began speculating it was one of the characters that had escaped the prison. Fans were left wondering as the date marked with an X went by without an event. A developer would later reveal it was just a reference to his daughter’s birthday!
