Following the disastrous debut of such an ambitious game, CDPR issued an apology to all the gamers who had purchased it. While giving the reasons for its failure, the developer had also mentioned that the team assigned for QA (quality assurance) testing simply didn’t catch all the major game-breaking bugs and issues.
At that time, many people didn’t believe this, assuming it to be an excuse by CD Projekt Red to just blame a third party that worked on its game. But now it looks like there was some truth behind the developer mentioning this point.
In case anyone is unaware, CDPR had assigned the part of quality assurance to the team of Quantic Lab. The latter has previously tested its hit title The Witcher 3, along with many other IPs from different companies.
Forbes recently published an article covering shocking information over Cyberpunk 2077’s launch-day failure.
The lie that led to the debacle of the Game
As reported by Forbes, a whistleblower had sent a 72-page document to the YouTuber, Upper Echelon Gamers. The latter has covered issues on Cyberpunk 2077 in the past, mostly related to its messy release and overall development.
Now going by the YouTuber’s video, citing what the whistleblower told him, Quantic Lab allegedly lied to the team of CDPR’s developers regarding the bugs in Cyberpunk 2077.
Basically, the QA testing team didn’t send the major issues to be solved that were affecting the actual gameplay mechanics. Instead, they sent the developers an endless amount of irrelevant bugs and glitches to be fixed. Thus, it led to the team of CDPR losing out on the main, problematic issues that were highlighted worldwide at the time of Cyberpunk 2077’s launch.
Moreover, the management of Quantic Lab also didn’t inform CD Projekt Red that it had a smaller team of testers. On the contrary, they told them they had a bigger staff, in order to keep the contract.

Furthermore, Quantic Lab’s team comprised of “juniors with under six months experience in QA.” However, they didn’t reveal it to CDPR and told them they had a group of experienced, senior staff.
